Generative AI Policy

The Journal of Intelligent Drug Discovery and Genomic Medicine (IJIDDGM) recognizes the growing use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in research and scholarly communication. Such tools must be used responsibly, transparently and in ways that preserve scientific integrity, confidentiality and accountability.

1. AI Tools Cannot Be Authors

Generative AI tools and other AI systems cannot be listed or credited as authors because they cannot assume responsibility for the accuracy, integrity, originality or ethical conduct of scholarly work. Human authors remain fully accountable for all content submitted to IJIDDGM.

2. Disclosure of Generative AI Use

Authors must disclose substantive use of generative AI or AI-assisted technologies in the preparation of a manuscript or in conducting the reported research where such use materially contributed to the work.

The disclosure should identify the tool or system used and describe its purpose sufficiently to allow appropriate editorial and scientific assessment.

3. Author Responsibility

Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy, validity and originality of all AI-assisted content. Authors must independently verify references, factual statements, analyses, code, interpretations and other material produced or modified using generative AI.

AI-generated material must not be used to fabricate, falsify or misrepresent research data, results, images, references or scientific evidence.

4. AI in Drug Discovery and Computational Research

Where artificial intelligence or machine learning forms part of the research methodology, authors should report the methods with sufficient detail for scientific evaluation. This may include relevant information concerning datasets, preprocessing, model architecture or methodology, training and validation procedures, evaluation metrics, external validation, potential bias, data leakage and limitations.

Computational predictions concerning molecular activity, drug-target interactions, therapeutic efficacy, toxicity or other biological outcomes should be clearly distinguished from experimentally or clinically validated findings.

5. Genomic, Clinical and Sensitive Data

Authors must not upload confidential, personally identifiable, genomic, clinical or otherwise sensitive research information to external generative AI systems where doing so would violate participant consent, privacy obligations, data-use agreements, institutional requirements or applicable law.

6. Images, Figures and Research Data

Generative AI must not be used to create or alter research data or scientific images in a manner that misrepresents the underlying evidence. Any legitimate AI-assisted processing or analysis that forms part of the research methodology should be transparently described.

7. Peer Review and Editorial Confidentiality

Reviewers and editors must protect the confidentiality of unpublished manuscripts. Manuscripts, figures, datasets or substantial portions of confidential submissions must not be uploaded to external generative AI systems where confidentiality, data protection or intellectual-property safeguards cannot be assured.

Reviewers and editors remain personally responsible for their assessments, recommendations and editorial decisions.

8. References and Citations

Authors must verify all references independently. Generative AI output should not be treated as authoritative evidence, and fabricated or unverifiable citations are unacceptable.

9. Undisclosed or Inappropriate AI Use

Where undisclosed or inappropriate use of generative AI raises concerns regarding originality, data integrity, confidentiality, authorship or research misconduct, the journal may request clarification or supporting materials and may take appropriate editorial action.

10. Policy Development

Because generative AI technologies and scholarly standards continue to evolve, IJIDDGM may update this policy as appropriate. Authors, reviewers and editors are responsible for complying with the policy applicable at the time of their participation in the publication process.
